Resources I Use
Of the Culinary Variety
Northwestern Cutlery: Not only are they like the a Toys ‘R’ Us for cookery types, they professionally sharpen knives if you’re in Chicago and need that type of thing.
Epicurious: Best recipe site ever. Good challenges as well as simple recipes. The user reviews and modifications are what makes it so helpful.
America’s Test Kitchen: One of my favorite cooking shows. They also publish the fabulous magazine, Cook’s Illustrated.
Kendall College: Where I am receiving a top-notch culinary education.
Of the Pregnancy Variety*
Fertility Centers of Illinois: These guys put the amazing in doctor’s office. They call you with test results. They get a bit weepy when you get pregnant. They listen to you and respond to emails. They just rock it from a support stand point. The office staff is completely amazing and competent.
The Women’s Group of Northwestern: My regular OB/GYNs. After I was done with my first trimester, FCI transferred me back to these ladies (and, yes, they are all women). When my doctor here got the ultrasound that said I was pregnant, she called me to make sure I was doing OK. Again, really supportive doctors.
Chicago Acupuncture: Some people say that acupuncture helps prevent miscarriage. It worked for me (or it could have been the huge vitamin deficiency that a dermatologist found). Whatever the reason, I still go to acupuncture every other week. It’s nice to take a nap with needles in your back.

*Disclaimer: These are just people or sites that I found helpful and useful in my quest for pregnancy-land. You should always do research and follow your doctor’s advice and what not. Keep in mind that there is a lot of goofy stuff out there about recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL). Please be careful when doing research and make sure you get your information from credible sources. My personal account is great, but I’m not an MD. I’m just a regular person—take my advice or leave it.
